composer of contemporary music, former archive assistant, archaeologist and teacher.
The harbour entrance at Aberaeron, Wales.
Though composing within the traditional framework, his music cannot be described as conservative. Following that traditional pathway Alun has not be afraid to stray using contemporary technique such as serialism, minimalism and aleatoric etc... His music can be described as different, challenging yet rewarding and covers every genre of concert except stage works.
In spite of coming from a family of singers and organists, Alun much prefers to write secular music and has been much influenced by composers such as Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Tippett and Hoddinott. Alun has worked mainly at the grass roots and amateur music making scene which he has found challenging but also very rewarding.
This website has a biography and a full list of his compositions and their known performances. We hope you find it interesting and look forward to hearing from you.
